Amy Thoma came to Wilson-Miller Communications in 2007 after serving as communications director to California State Senator Abel Maldonado. Before working in the Senate, she was assistant secretary of state for strategic planning for Secretary of State Bruce McPherson from 2005 to 2006. In this position Amy directed the earned media component of the overall voter education and outreach program for the 2006 Statewide Gubernatorial Election.
Prior to joining the Secretary of State’s Office, Amy was a senior consultant to the Assembly Republican Caucus Office of Communications, a position she took after serving as executive director of the Monterey County Republican Party. In that role, she oversaw and executed all voter outreach and get out the vote efforts for the County and served as the party's local spokesperson.
Amy graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Education. She currently serves as president of Girls on the Run of Greater Sacramento, a non-profit prevention program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running.
