Julie Soderlund brings expertise in earned media, crisis communications, press relations and overall communications strategy to Wilson-Miller Communications. Her experience includes more than three years as a spokesperson and communications strategist for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Before joining Wilson-Miller Communications, Inc. in 2007, Julie served as an advisor to the Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and as communications director for the Governor's 2007 Inaugural Committee. Prior to that, she was press secretary for Governor Schwarzenegger's successful 2006 re-election campaign.
Julie began working for Governor Schwarzenegger in 2003 as assistant press secretary and later as deputy press secretary in his state office. She joined the Administration after two years as an account executive at the Sacramento-based public relations firm CommandFocus. At CommandFocus, Julie provided public affairs and communications support for a wide array of clients including state and local political campaigns, corporations and trade associations.
Prior to pursing a career in politics and communications, Julie spent a year living and working in Mexico City and served as an analyst for the Lafayette Exchange Corporation, a Bay Area-based boutique financial services firm.
A Santa Barbara native, Julie graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and political science and a minor in business administration from the Haas School of Business.
She currently serves as President of the Sacramento Chapter of the California Women’s Leadership Association, as a member of the Scholarship Committee for the Sacramento Press Club, on the Marian Bergeson Excellence in Public Service Series Board and as a member of the Sacramento Junior League.
